Of Brilliance is a celebration of choral music with texts that illuminate colors, stars, and many other radiant aspects of life. GDCS welcomes local artist Aspen VanHooser to create a progressive painting—a visual reflection of brilliance expressed through song. This live artistic process culminates in a finished work that is available for purchase after the performance. Proceeds from the auction benefit GDCS.

About the artwork: This piece, created with acrylic paint on canvas, explores the dynamic relationship between music and mark-making. Each brushstroke is a direct response to the energy and melodies absorbed in the moment, translating sound into movement and rhythm onto the canvas. The composition captures the fluidity of music, where colors and forms echo the emotion and intensity of each note.

Aspen VanHooser is a multi-disciplinary artist living in Fort Worth, TX where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Operating under Aspen VanHooser Studios, her work has explored a diverse range of mediums including large-scale installations, miniatures, paper crafts, and portraiture. After 15 years designing window installations and interior displays for major retail companies, she has shifted focus to her personal art practice. Deriving inspiration from esteemed designers and artists like Eero Saarinen, Wassily Kandinsky, and Gustav Klimt, her art blends timeless design with an expressive perspective. Articulated through any medium, Aspen's work radiates wonder and effervescence, thoughtfully crafted through her dedication to following joy.
